Focus on Your Strengths

Ask me how my most recent event went (well, any event, class, presentation, etc), go ahead…ask me.
”It was good, but I should’ve _____________________. XXXXXXXX could’ve been better.” You don’t need to know the exact event to know that there is a list of what I could have done better.

Even though I know with all my heart, that there is an ease, a flow, a rightness when I use my strengths, my head can very quickly focus on what I did wrong. If I’m not careful, that list can turn into a tailspin heading straight for “I’m not good enough.”

Thankfully, there are tools I can use. As a regular journaler, I appreciate strengths-based journaling. This article from Ness Labs https://nesslabs.com/strength-based-journaling highlights the science behind strengths-based journaling and how to implement it into our lives. Reflection is key in how we learn.

Here are some prompts that I would add to their list:
~ Think about a recent challenge, what did I do well? What am I most proud of in how I handled it?
~ What do people often ask me for (or about)?
~ How did I live into ________________ today?
~ What action can I take today to live into __________________ ?
~ Where do I find an ease in life?
